I'm going to make an example of this ReMix. Not because it's bad - it's not. Not because it doesn't change the original enough - it does. In fact, this is a perfectly fine, above average techno-rave ReMix - our first from the Gundam Wing Endless Duel SNES game (one of the only half-decent Gundam games made), and also our first from newcomer DarkeSword. So why am I making a big deal? Well, I don't like seeing squandered potential. While this ReMix is good, it could be great. What's stopping it, you ask? Well, regulars on our forums probably know that FruityLoops is an often-used program for ReMixing, but also has a bit of a tarnished reputation. Why? Simple - people have a bad habit of relying extensively or even exclusively on its highly recognizable preset sounds. Now, I'm not one to forbid the usage of presets - they ARE there to be used. But when it's the SAME presets showing up in every other song, that's not a positive development. The fault is not that of FruityLoops - this is some pretty powerful software that can generate a myriad of different sounds. Bottom line seems to be that, while submissions like this do illustrate arranging skill and an ear for mixing, they don't tend to illustrate attentiveness to sonic variety and going beyond the meat-and-potatoes sounds that FruityLoops offers. I'm not banning all mixes that use these sounds, and I'm not saying this is an example of a "bad" ReMix - if that were the case, I wouldn't be posting it. However, this ReMix could be twice as good, and approach greatness, with more care taken to digging deeper into FruityLoops (or "FL" for short) and experimenting. This does actually do a little of that, with some filtering and certain sounds that aren't as obvious. And, gosh darnit, it's some catchy, well-constructed stuff, and you're probably gonna like it. Just makin' a point for all ReMixers - FL is deeper than you might think, and digging will yield rewards and more individual pieces, guaranteed. I don't wanna use DarkeSword's first posted mix as too much of a soapbox (my apologies to him as I've basically already done that) - you get the drift. Good techno/rave showing some thought, and definitely head-noddin' toe-stompin' material, but with, as indicated above, room to grow.

Personally, I love this remix. It could be that's it's because I'm a huge Gundam fan or that it was one of the first remixes to really catch my ear when it randomly popped on ORmgas back in the day (to age me a bit), but it's mostly because this song just really gets me pumped. If you still feel so bad about it, why don't you do a Version 2 or something. I don't know anything about sound mixing software or anything like that, but maybe that's a good thing. I can just enjoy it for what it is.

I'm getting a bit of a Corneria vibe from the source here, and that can be only a good thing. The sounds are pretty basic, but it's an older mix, and there is some good energy going on. Combined with a good source, and some nice arrangement ideas, this one is worth checking out. :-)

Only in a thread started in 2002 would you find people calling DarkeSword amateur sounding. I find that highly amusing.

As for the mix, I guess it showed some promise of what is to come, but there's a lethergy to the overall design and the production here that doesn't make me pine for the early days that much. DarkeSword only went upward from this point, which is for me, a standardised bit of techno fluff and a solid, yet unremarkable debut.

Maybe it would be more impressive if there wasn't such an amazing succession of top-tier mixes that came from DarkeSword not long after this one. But since there is, this mix is largely eclipsed by greatness, giving me little to truly get behind. And after all, starting small is so much better than the alternative.

When I first came to OCRemix, I didn't expect to see any Endless Duel remixes here... And I was totally shocked when I saw this one! The song is imho the best in the game, and remix adds much more beauty to it... My favourite remix of all times, for sure. It's perfect.

I have to admit- That is a very cool mix- Even if I've never played the game Endless Duel. I have one question though, Did that ever come out on the SNES or only on Super Famicom- And where can I get a version of it to play? Thanks- AND DO ANOTHER GUNDAM ONE!

First off I'd like to say that I think this is an Excellent song, and probably a thousand times better than anything I could do if I tried doing the same thing you guys do.

I like this song in the beginning of the track, because it has that feel of some scene of great importance from some show or anime Movie, where the Hero is getting the crap beat out of him, or he's struggling with some great emotional burden or near impossible feat to save somebody or something else along those same lines.

The part that starts up at 2:40, that upbeat almost victorius sounding part just totally loses it for me though. It just ruins the whole vibe of someone going through some great struggle. Though this is probably something caused by the original song itself, and not exactly anything to do with your rendition of it. This is the only quirk I can find with it.

This song has easily made it into my "Favorites" playlist on my player. I hope we can see some more Endless Duel remixes from you. Or maybe some Gundam Battle Assault 1 or 2 remixes ehn?

Ja, ne?

I agree, good mix that could be better... but you know what that means right? Have another gundam remix that will blow EVERYONE away! All in all I loved it. ;)

I love this mix. It's one of my favorite techno songs, ever. It's a great rave song. Good beat, good melody, and a tribute to a great game. Darkesword, you've done it again with a high-quality mix.

Actually I haven't done it again. This was my first mix with FL, and my first mix posted to OC.

This was quite a nice remix. I've never heard the original, but based on this tune, I think I'll seek it out. I might even have to check out fruityloops too. But, Darkesword, great job I really enjoy this mix.

I don't know how appropriate it would be to say that I made a remix of the heavyarms track myself, not as good as the "let me lift this load" one in my own opinion, I caught myself adding the same bassline this one had on accident because I listened to it so much O_o

EDIT: I might also add that I used some Fruityloops preset samples and channels aswell....not all of them suck!
