Arranging the music of one song...

"It's Difficult to Stand on Both Feet, Isn't It?"

Primary Game: Final Fantasy VII (Sony , 1997, PS1), music by Nobuo Uematsu

Beatdrop's latest is, as the name suggests, some acidic, pounding industrial/trance techno from Final Fantasy 7. Introing with a four-on-the-floor hard kick and some nice delayed synth percussion, at 0'30" the main filtered synth bassline comes in, drums, drop out, and then the whole thing gets going ten seconds later. There's not much of a melody proper until 1'46", when gated trance chords come in to replace the higher, repeating synth motif. Things get increasingly trance from there, with the piece building and ending on the solid percussive foundation. I'm not a huge fan of this particular brand of BGM, which is incidental as opposed to narrative, but it does lend itself to aggressive electronic interpretation, as Dain's done here. For me, the highlight was the percussion - there are loop effects and breaks, and the general overall energy is high. I'd like to see these sorts of pieces try to include some counter-melody or harmony, or an original solo of some nature, but for what's here I think electronica and FF(7) fans will be satisfied with another hard-hitting track from Beatdrop.

Now try listening to this when you're trippin' on acid.

Some cool processing and panning segments on a few parts of this, and there are some good ideas, like the multiple modulations and solid production, but it seems like the melodic material isn't really supporting this. The arrangement is great. I think I'd love this track if the source was better.

I'm glad I was sitting when I listened to this.

With Beatdrop written all over it, how can you possibly go wrong at all? Electronic and definitely acidic, this is a one-way train to... well, somewhere else that makes you freak out a good bit.

Once this song hit the 0:28 mark, I was like, "Whoa. This song is like sex." I didn't want it to stop.

Nevr thought this track could become a trance-hit, the ways of Beatdrop is unpredictable. It may be overstuffed with many noises, instruments, beats and other creations of drop, but then it just wouldn´t be a trance, would it? I wasn´t a big fan for the synth beginning at 0:55, a little too screechie, but I admire BD for making this remix sound like a bossmusic when the original is a funny melody playing when Cloud and the group has dressed up. But clearly my best part is when my the second melody tunes in at 2:17, that´s the best part with the original track. THAT synth I liked very much, mmmyyesss.

GREAT stuff mr Drop.

This is a excellently constructed remix - each part leads into the next and, although ppl write that it's repetitive, i think the melody changes and fade ins etc. make up for it by adding the variety that the drums maybe lack?!? but it's maybe just me. Overall, i LOVE it! Also one of the songs i look forward to hearing on the cd

It has a very you're-being-chased-by-something-that-wants-to-rip-your-guts-out feel.
Good description

I'm listening OCRemix radio and start a trance music that really make me feel the way above, so I have to register this.

I'm a trance/techno fan (and many others rhythms either), I have many hours of trance in house, but this track impress me a lot.

I read the reviews and seems "It's Difficult to Stand When You're on Acid" don't pleased folks here (even the remixer don't seems to be happy). Sorry for you, this remix is amazing.

People have the bad habit to judge everything like orchestral pieces. This is unreasonable. Obvious a bit of melody and harmony helps, but not in this remix, it's complete. The overall feeling is what really matters. I refuse to bring any technical construction for discuss.

(trance music isn't for bad sound speakers and poor headphones, ears blows up on these)

Grade 10

Pretty good. I especially like section that starts at the 28 second mark. It's just a good build up. Overall its about a B+, an account of being a little monotonous/ repetitive.

Mmmm, acid. I guess it's not my taste. I mainly just came in here to say that the repeating synth near the beginning sounds like the "synth" that comes in when Strong Bad does his techno song......a lot.

Love it. I'm not very good at the whole constructive criticism thing, but I love everything between 0:55 and 2:30.

It has a very you're-being-chased-by-something-that-wants-to-rip-your-guts-out feel.

The changeup at the beginning was the attraction to the song for me.

when i downloaded this song, i did not like it at all. for some reason, however, i decided to leave it in my playlist. my playlist runs 24 hours a day, and after a few times of waking up around 4 a.m., hearing the song, and saying (in a groggy tone) "wut da fuk?" i really started to like it.

i know you didn't put too much work into this and some parts hurt the ears, but i like it more and more every time i hear it, so the amount of effort means nothing to me. great work.

Indeed it isn't. It's just 64th notes on the clap that pan around and drop in pitch. Nothing too special. I was just tired of doing boring old snare builds. :P

Beatdrop, I've always been a huge fan of yours. This mix is great, as usual. It's especially good at 6 AM when you're trying to wake yourself up and your best friend refuses to get out of bed.

And um.. k-wix,

2:15 - Oo.. crazy :P you need to teach me how to do this, Mr. Drop.

..that isn't very difficult to do. :P
