Off of Super Mario RPG: Window to the Stars, this infectious & rompin' chiptune jam on "Monstro Town" from DDRKirby(ISQ) [Timmie Wong] has folk elements to the part-writing, a fantastic syncopated breakdown, and is simply overflowing with energy & verve:

"Theory of N pinged me for assistance in the 11th hour hoping that I could put together another track for the SMRPG project realllly quickly. We only had a couple of days left, so I whipped out my Speed-Composing Hat* and set out to work. 4.5 hours of work time later, I turned in my final version!

I decided to arrange the song using a swing-y triple meter to contrast from the original source. I often find that taking a song in a different direction like this forces me to warp the original melodies into a different form and helps me avoid going on autopilot and copying the source verbatim. It ended up being a pretty fun idea to explore, and I'm happy with where it went, particularly with the sweeping breakdown section in the middle of the song. Enjoy!

*(not actually a literal hat that I own, unfortunately)"

A superb idea, I'd say, which he executes true-to-form with clean lines, pure waveforms, syncopated percussive noise bliss (crunchy!), and a willingness to try different ideas. Defyingly focused & structured for an arrangement that took 4.5 hours, it's invigorating, well-crafted, and it breathes the source in a new & exciting way. Minty fresh. Album director DaMonz writes:

"I just can't get enough DDRKirby(ISQ). I was expecting something just as awesome from him once again, and he delivered. What I was not expecting is that Timmie had the genius idea of noticing a shocking similarity between Monstro Town's music and the "Prelude" from Final Fantasy. The reference that ensued in his ReMix is an insanely satisfying surprise that makes for a gorgeous blend of themes, while still holding true to Monstro Town."

Evaluating for featured status, Gario enthuses:

"Christ, are *you* a monster? Four and a half hours, and something this tight, interesting and awesome comes of that. Loving the bounce, loving the pacing, and of course I'm enjoying the hell out of your style. Great work!"

Ditto all that; also does a good job capturing the quirk & general vibes of SMRPG. This might have been cooked up on relatively short order, but it's one of Timmie's tastiest entrees yet, and manages to oscillate into a grander mode at 1'26" with humongous sustained chords that launch you into outer space. Really superlative stuff and a highlight from Window to the Stars - highly recommended!

Only four and a half hours? Goodness gracious. *Checks who made this.*. Oh that totally checks out. I've seen DDRKirby somehow churn out audio magic in even less time. Onto the remix itself, I really liked it! That swirling arp that starts around 1:26 was so smooth. Great job on this!

Four and a half hours for something this incredible is unbelievable. Really enjoyed the inclusion of the prelude here, and the entire mix is a treat for chippy mix lovers. Highly recommended.
